College Transition Companion
Guidance for students. Support for parents. Peace for both.
The shift from high school to college is more than a move — it’s a milestone. It marks the moment when one chapter closes and another begins, not just for the student stepping into independence, but for the parents learning how to release and reimagine their role. Through Vestige Personal Coaching’s College Transition Companion, I walk alongside both — offering individualized, confidential support during this transformative season.
This three-month coaching commitment is designed to ease the emotional and practical challenges that come with the college transition. For students, it’s a safe, judgment-free space to process change, build confidence, and strengthen resilience. For parents, it’s an opportunity to reflect, recalibrate, and navigate the often-overlooked transition of letting go. I meet separately with each — helping the student adjust to independence while helping the parent find peace and purpose in their evolving role.
Each conversation is confidential and deeply personal. I listen, ask questions, and help each person gain clarity in their own journey. For the student, sessions might focus on managing expectations, decision-making, friendships, or identity. For the parent, we often explore themes like communication boundaries, trust, and how to stay connected without overstepping. The result is a shared transition that’s less reactive, more intentional, and grounded in mutual respect.
Because coaching is a partnership, the student’s willingness to engage is essential. Coaching only works when curiosity and openness are present. And while I keep both relationships private, I help foster healthy communication between parent and student when appropriate — always honoring confidentiality and consent.
At its heart, this work is about presence — helping families navigate change not by rushing through it, but by moving through it thoughtfully. Three months of structured, compassionate coaching can help both student and parent embrace this next chapter with confidence, trust, and grace.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How does the 3-month coaching structure work?
The program includes separate one-on-one coaching sessions for the student and parent(s), typically over a 12-week period. We begin with a joint orientation call to align on goals, expectations, and communication boundaries.
2. How often will we meet?
Most families schedule biweekly sessions — alternating between the student and parent(s) — with additional check-ins as needed. The structure ensures both sides feel supported while keeping the focus balanced.
3. What kinds of topics are discussed?
Students often explore independence, time management, relationships, homesickness, and identity. Parents focus on communication, letting go, boundaries, and rediscovering purpose during this life shift.
4. Are sessions confidential?
Yes. All coaching conversations are fully confidential. With permission, I may share broad insights or coordination points to help improve understanding between parent and student, but never private details.
5. What if the student isn’t ready or interested?
That’s okay — coaching requires willingness. I’m happy to speak with both parties beforehand to explore readiness and answer questions. The process only moves forward when the student chooses to participate.
6. What happens after the three-month commitment?
At the end of the program, we’ll review progress and next steps together. Some families choose to extend coaching through the first semester or beyond; others feel equipped to continue the journey independently.
